What is a Reverse Osmosis Membrane?

In order to understand what a Reverse Osmosis Membrane is, it is important to explain the process of Reverse Osmosis (RO). RO is a type of water filtration system that uses semi-permeable membranes to act as a barrier, to remove unwanted molecules from water, such as salt and bacteria. This is achieved by applying pressure and pushing water through a semi-permeable purifier, known as a Reverse Osmosis Membrane. RO membranes are made from a membrane flat sheet comprised of three layers. This includes a polyester support base, a polysulfone layer and a polyamide barrier layer. The polysulfone layer is there to strengthen the barrier layer, which removes nutrients, chemicals, bacteria and viruses from water. Reverse osmosis membrane systems are commonly used in water purification plants, to produce potable-grade water for consumption and other applications.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” bg_type=”bg_color” ult_hide_row=”ult_hide_row_value” ult_hide_row_mobile=”mobile” ult_hide_row_mobile_large=”xl_mobile” css=”.vc_custom_1585029876385{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;}” z_index=”” bg_color_value=”#f8f8f8″][vc_column][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

The Importance of RO Membranes

With the world’s growing population and shrinking resources, reverse osmosis membrane systems are receiving increasingly more attention across the globe. As a result, it has become one of the most dominating technologies in the water treatment market, and is considered to be one of the most effective water purification methods to date. One of the main advantages to using reverse osmosis membranes is because it can transform the Earth’s natural salt water into everyday drinking water. Did you know that the oceans hold about 96.6% of the Earth’s water? With reverse osmosis membrane systems, this could eliminate the water crisis humans face all around the world! In addition, the process of reverse osmosis systems also requires less energy, are low maintenance, and can save you money in the long term.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3099″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” bg_type=”bg_color” ult_hide_row=”ult_hide_row_value” ult_hide_row_large_screen=”large_screen” ult_hide_row_desktop=”desktop” ult_hide_row_tablet=”tablet” ult_hide_row_tablet_small=”xs_tablet” css=”.vc_custom_1585029883710{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;}” z_index=”” bg_color_value=”#f8f8f8″][vc_column][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3099″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
